Hometown Helping Hand is a program implemented by the Board of Light & Power to raise additional funding for assisting families in need in the Grand Haven area with paying past due electric bills.
The Board of Light & Power donates 50% of the proceeds raised from revenues generated by its door tag disconnect notice program to help supplement the Hometown Helping Hand program. The
balance of the funding is collected through one-time or monthly donations from Board of Light & Power customers and local support groups. All funds collected are held by the Board of Light & Power and distributed through the Salvation Army’s assistance program to qualifying BLP customers. 100% of funds collected go to the Hometown Helping Hand program and remain right here in our community. In FY2018, Hometown Helping Hand distributed $21,187 to BLP customers in need of assistance.
For a one time donation, simply include a separate check with your utility bill stub written to Hometown Helping Hand. To make a monthly contribution, download the Hometown Helping Hands donation form by clicking the link below and return it to the Board of Light & Power by enclosing it with your postal delivery utility bill stub and payment or by dropping it off at our office located at 1700 Eaton Drive, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
