System Operator
Job Summary: Under direction, coordinates and controls Grand Haven Board of Light & Power’s electric substation and distribution assets on a 24/7, minute-by-minute basis in a safe, reliable, and economic manner; achieves and maintains operating compliance with all regulatory, industry, and organizational standards related to operations, outage recovery, and voltage levels for BLP’s electric system; responsible for ensuring that electrical operating procedures and processes provide a safe and reliable environment for customers, employees, and the public.
Interprets System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data and other system information to analyze events and system conditions to formulate appropriate actions during system emergencies; communicates system conditions and directs appropriate action to field personnel during normal and emergency situations; frequently required to make prompt decisions with minimal supervisory oversight; support other utility functions and perform related and/or other work as required and/or assigned. Continued aptitude enhancements are available and required through on-the-job training in the Operations and Technical Services Department.
This position may be assigned to either a rotating shift or day schedules depending on project assignments.
