GRAND HAVEN, MICH., January 8, 2026 – The Grand Haven Board of Light and Power (BLP) invites community members to attend upcoming Strategic Planning Community Forums as the utility prepares to launch its next five-year strategic planning process.
The forums will be held at Central Park Place, 421 Columbus, Grand Haven, MI 49417, in the Escanaba Room on the following dates:
Thursday, February 5, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, February 10, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
These forums will provide an opportunity for customers to participate in discussions and share ideas about the future of the community-owned electric utility. The events will be in a casual open house format. Customers aren’t required to attend for the entire time but can drop in as their schedule allows.
“The BLP has followed strong strategic plans and execution over the past decade, and public input is an extremely important part of that process,” said Rob Shelley, General Manager. “We’re inviting our customers to come learn about their electric utility and the steps we have taken to ensure their power remains reliable, affordable, and sustainable. These forums give the community an opportunity to join the discussion and provide input that will help shape the direction of the utility over the next five years.”
Board Chair Mike Westbrook added, “Our strategic approach has allowed us to diversify our power supply, maintain competitive electric rates, invest in our local transmission and distributions systems, and expand our renewable energy portfolio while achieving significant results in energy waste reduction. While the utility’s financial health is strong, sustaining it will require a forward-thinking approach.”
Customers who are unable to attend either Community Forum may still provide feedback by completing the Customer Input Form at the BLP’s website at www.ghblp.org or by attending monthly BLP Board meetings.
