Hometown Helping Hand
Hometown Helping Hand is a program implemented by the Board of Light & Power to raise additional funding for assisting families in need in the Grand Haven area with paying past-due electric bills.
The Board of Light & Power donates 80% of proceeds raised from its disconnect notice program to help supplement the Hometown Helping Hand program. The remaining funding is collected through one-time or monthly donations from the Board of Light & Power customers or local support groups. 100% of funds collected go to the Hometown Helping Hand program and remain in our community. All funds collected are held by the Board of Light & Power and distributed through the Salvation Army’s assistance program to qualifying BLP customers. In FY2023, Hometown Helping Hand distributed $12,633.45 to BLP customers needing assistance.
For a one-time donation, include a separate check with your utility bill stub written to Hometown Helping Hand, or click the donation button below to designate monthly contributions.
