The General Manager, under the direction of the elected Board, oversees all operational and planning activities related to the purchase, distribution, and sale of electrical capacity and energy.
- Identifies and resolves potential issues, recommends policy options to the Board, and implements decisions effectively.
- Manages operational and capital budgets, rate filings, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with government regulations and refining organizational objectives.
- Directs ongoing operations through subordinate supervisors and oversees utility personnel.
- Engages in negotiations and problem-solving in areas such as power supply management, maintenance standards, risk management, consultant oversight, and emergency response.
- Leads major capital projects throughout the planning and construction cycle, including feasibility studies, financing, environmental approvals, contracts, and construction supervision.
Responsible for the administration, technical supervision, operation and maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance of all generation facilities and market energy transactions.
Responsible for the planning, construction, and reliability of the BLP distribution and transmission system, technical services area, information technology and for compliance with environmental, general safety, and any other rules, regulations and legalities associated with the operation and maintenance of an electric utility distribution and transmission system.
