Congratulations are in order for Mike Killebrew, GHBLP Electrical Lineworker, on his graduation from the Joint Michigan Apprentice Program (JMAP), which celebrated its first class of apprentices becoming journeymen electrical lineworkers at the Wolverine Power Cooperative Training Center on Monday, May 7.
The inaugural class celebrated the graduation of 18 apprentice linemen from 13 Michigan utilities that collectively span Michigan’s entire Lower Peninsula. “It takes linemen thousands of hours to become a master in their trade so they may provide reliable power to our customers,” said Robert Shelley, GHBLP Distribution & Engineering Manager. “They place their lives on the line every day for our community, and we are exceedingly proud of Mike’s accomplishment and commitment to service.”
Upon graduation from JMAP, Killebrew will continue his work alongside eight other journeymen and apprentice lineworkers at the Board of Light & Power who provide the essential service of power line maintenance and first-response in the event of outages and emergencies.
